Guardian Mode and Asset Management in the baramundi Management Suite Release

Augsburg, May 18, 2026 – baramundi software GmbH is releasing the baramundi Management Suite 2026 in May. The unified endpoint management solution has once again been enhanced with numerous improvements and extensions—including improved asset management, which enables the assignment of assets to individuals or groups, and Guardian Mode for detecting and removing unwanted local admin accounts. Additionally, new co-management capabilities in the area of conditional access and expanded reporting functions are available as a preview.

Guardian Mode – Inventory and Removal of Local Administrators

In the wrong hands, local administrator accounts can pose a threat to the entire network’s security. Therefore, they should only be accessible when specifically needed. Guardian Mode catalogs these accounts and provides extensive management options: In addition to deletion and deactivation, accounts can also be removed from the administrator group.

Assets for Users and Groups

The new release fundamentally modernizes and expands the existing asset management system. The interface now offers a consistent view, more precise filtering, and faster navigation. In addition to endpoints and logical groups, assets can now also be assigned to individual users, AD groups, and organizational units. This enables a significantly more precise representation of real ownership relationships—for example, with personal assets such as YubiKeys or cameras. Thanks to the unified view, all areas of asset management now benefit from improved filtering and export options. This allows the asset structure to be mapped more flexibly and makes it much easier to understand in complex environments.

bConnect 2.0 – Documentation and New Controllers

Thanks to the expansion of the baramundi Connect interface, a whole range of new controllers can now be accessed, making the system more secure and enabling a more efficient workflow:

  • Access to vulnerability results: Third-party systems can now access vulnerability scanner results for documentation and audits
  • Access to Universal Dynamic Groups: The contents of dynamic groups, including all metadata and endpoint information, can be used by external monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Access to BitLocker Secrets: Using the Defense Control function, extracted BitLocker secrets can be easily imported into third-party systems, ensuring that service desk staff have quick access when needed.
  • Access to DIP Managed Software Cleanup: This allows cleanup processes to be integrated into existing automation scenarios without having to start them manually in the Management Center.

Preview: Co-Management – Conditional Access

In this release, baramundi also significantly expands the integration of the baramundi Management Suite with Microsoft Intune: The baramundi Management Server reports the compliance status of managed iOS and Android endpoints to Intune, where it is then forwarded to Entra ID and incorporated into the conditional access policies there. This allows companies to ensure that only devices with a valid compliance status reported by baramundi are granted access to their corporate resources. As a result, they immediately benefit from higher security standards without having to adapt their existing management processes. This feature is currently available as a preview version.

Preview: New Reporting

Reporting is becoming increasingly important—not only for IT operations but also for management decisions, security assessments, and compliance documentation. baramundi offers a centralized data repository with historical tracking that enables reporting independently of the baramundi Management Center. This allows developments, trends, and the status of IT and security measures to be evaluated transparently, comprehensibly, and over the long term—including via existing BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI. The new reporting solution thus forms the foundation for flexible, scalable, and future-proof reporting—both on-premises and in the cloud. This feature is currently available as a preview version.

Additional updates regarding maintenance windows, facelifts, and much more.

In addition to numerous security-related improvements, the baramundi Management Suite 2026 R1 also includes other new features: The maintenance window introduced in the last release now includes a new “job ban” option, which prevents jobs from running in any form in particularly sensitive environments. In addition to new features, the baramundi Management Center has also received a comprehensive facelift: Numerous views have been migrated to a modern, unified interface, making them more efficient, clearer, and more cohesive.

baramundi Proactive Hub

As a standalone product, the baramundi Proactive Hub is the platform for next-generation IT management, providing IT administrators with tools to manage the entire digital work environment in an intelligent, automated, and cloud-based manner. The functionality currently available within the Proactive Hub is the Digital Employee Experience (DEX) solution baramundi perform2work. Over the past six months, this has been expanded with numerous new features:

  • AI-based anomaly detection continuously analyzes metrics and identifies endpoints that deviate significantly from normal behavior compared to the rest of the environment.
  • With S.M.A.R.T. monitoring, IT admins receive data on the status of hard drives and SSDs, as well as clear status assessments and actionable recommendations.
  • Software updates: Inventoried software packages can be easily and seamlessly updated to the latest version directly from perform2work, resolving potential issues without delay.
  • Direct access to baramundi Remote Desk simplifies support work, allowing admins to connect to the affected endpoint immediately after a problem is detected.
  • The new Proactive Connect API now makes perform2work data directly available to other applications—whether for endpoint management, ITSM, monitoring, security, asset and license management, collaboration tools, or BI/reporting.
