Software as a Service (SaaS)

Software as a Service (SaaS)

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a model in which software applications are delivered over the Internet. Instead of purchasing the software with a traditional license and installing it locally on their own device, users can access the application over the Internet through a web browser or dedicated app. The software is hosted and maintained by a SaaS vendor.

SaaS enables flexible and scalable use of software without requiring extensive installation or maintenance. Users typically pay a fee to use the software, which can vary depending on the subscription model.

Configure SaaS applications

IT admins should configure SaaS applications so that they work smoothly with their existing systems and applications. This includes, for example, integrating single sign-on (SSO) solutions, migrating data and customizing interfaces.

SaaS data protection and user experiences

The data and user accounts in SaaS applications also must be adequately protected with access controls, encryption, regular security checks and monitoring of security incidents among other measures.

IT admins are responsible for ensuring that SaaS applications operate efficiently, and that users can work productively without service interruptions. Application performance monitoring is important as is working with the SaaS provider to optimize it.
