Description of Product Lifecycle at baramundi
The software lifecycle refers to the structured process of developing, deploying, maintaining, and retiring various features within software applications. It consists of multiple recurring phases, from planning to end-of-life (EoL).
At the beginning, market and customer requirements are gathered and analyzed to define the scope. During development, features are coded and tested to ensure functionality and security. Deployment marks the transition to active use, followed by maintenance, where updates and bug fixes ensure longevity. Over time, certain software features reach their EoL, meaning they are no longer supported, migrated to newer systems or phased out. Understanding the software lifecycle is essential for efficient development, security, and long-term usability.

States in a product life cycle
The End-of-Life (EoL) process of a feature within a baramundi software product consists of multiple stages that define its transition from active support to obsolescence. These stages typically include:

The function/module is closed for new functionalities. Only critical security issues are addressed, external API/OS changes are taken into account and operating system compatibility is checked. Consulting and support will continue to be offered.

The function is no longer visible/usable, with no adjustments and limited support and consulting. Customers highly dependent on this module can request temporary reactivation via their usual sales representative or customer(at)baramundi.com.

All official support and updates will be discontinued and the application will no longer be made available.

Legacy State (e.g. Windows XP compatibility) is reserved for applications that are kept functional but are no longer supported.
