2022 – Constant Change

20. December 2022, Avatar of baramundibaramundi

In retrospect, 2022 can probably best be summed up as often exciting, sometimes challenging, but always eventful. The political and economic situation in the world kept us on our toes. But together with our customers and partners, we faced up to and mastered this “opportunity to excel.”

The start to the year was quite positive. baramundi was named a top employer by Great Place to Work (and one of the top 100 German employers for the ninth time), and by the major rating portal Kununu.

A little escape from everyday life

In March, our Esc the Day event series started its second round with a tremendous response building on last year’s popular premiere. Featuring former German intelligence agent and criminal investigator Leo Martin presenting his “Secret Weapons of Communication,” Esc the Day set a new attendance record with over 1,000 registrations. The subsequent events in September with mindset expert Vivienne Dübbert and in December with motivational speaker and mental health coach Sebastian Wächter further reinforced the program’s success and popularity.

The building that lived up to the hype

In May, the time had come at last: baramundians, who had been working at home as we vacated our former offices in the venerable 112-year-old Glaspalast (The Glass Palace), were finally able to move into the new work areas in the SoftwareFactory, our new state-of-the-art company headquarters building. The move into pleasantly (and sustainably!) air-conditioned surroundings was perfectly timed with the hot summer days approaching (anyone who has spent time in the Glaspalast in July knows exactly what we mean). The SoftwareFactory has won over even the toughest skeptics thanks in part to the excellent catering in the in-house café and restaurant. The new building has already proven its worth during a series of company events. We’re looking forward to many more gatherings and celebrations in the months and years to come.

Paying attention to the details

In June we introduced the latest twice-annual release of the baramundi Management Suite (bMS), 2022 R1. It added a host of valuable improvements, many of which focused on small details that produce big benefits for busy IT admins. For example, we added support for the ARP and SSH protocols to expand automated discovery of Linux and other less-common types of endpoint devices. bMS 2022 R1 also included new capabilities for our cloud-based Argus Cockpit monitoring solution, enhanced management of Windows Updates, expanded features for the software Self Service Kiosk, and a range of convenience functions.

Eddy or not, Augsburg becomes the world’s canoe and kayak capital!

Augsburg was swirling with activity and excitement in mid-summer, as our hometown had the honor of hosting 380 athletes from 70 nations competing in the World Canoe Slalom Championships on the legendary Eiskanal whitewater course. baramundi was right in the middle of it all as the main sponsor for the overall event, for two local whitewater paddling clubs (Augsburger Kajak e.V. and Kanu Schwaben Augsburg) and for gold medal winners Ricarda Funk and Hannes Aigner. Watching world-class paddlers compete in 10 medal rounds was the perfect way to stay cool on hot July days.

A busy autumn

We also had an unintended contest in the Fall when the date of the it-sa IT security conference in Nuremberg overlapped with our long-planned come2gether (c2g) customer event. baramundians and customers had to decide which of the two events to attend. Fortunately for us, the overwhelming majority of invited guests opted for our customer event and its great presentations and conversations. In total, the 2022 c2g recorded over 732 attendees, only slightly lower than last year's record.

A whole new experience

We approached the end of the year with the release of the bMS 2022 R2. R2 added options for automating IT tasks, enhancements to our existing Argus Cockpit solution, and – especially – an innovation focusing on a fast-growing priority for IT admins: End-User Experience Management (EUEM).

The new baramundi Experience Management (bEX) module complements the endpoint device-centric capabilities of Argus Cockpit and provides vital EUEM data to help IT admins discover and correct endpoint hardware and software problems. Notifications about software hangs, connection slowdowns and other common issues enable IT admins to speed troubleshooting by analyzing when and how problems occur. It also can help them take steps to prevent possible performance issues and resolve problems even before end-users submit a support ticket.

We’re looking forward to continued growth and product innovations next year. Until then, we are going to enjoy some relaxing time off over the holidays and hope you can do the same. Happy New Year!
